A Step By Step Visual Guide. - Heng Long Gearboxes

IMPORTANT - This guide may require electrical soldering and therefore soldering experience is essential.
If you are upgrading to metal gearboxes, we recommend that you also upgrade the plastic sprockets to metal sprockets at the same time.
Upgrading to metal gearboxes and metal sprockets is recommended if you intend to run metal tracks on your tank.

Please note that no soldering is required when changing only the gearboxes over! This requires using the original motors with your new gearbox.

All you'll need is:
- a set of screw drivers
- a soldering iron and solder if replacing the motors as well

1. Unscrew gearboxes (left & right) from lower hull. If replacing motors unplug motors from board or click here for which

2. Remove motors from gearboxes. This may not be necessary if new gearbox has motors attached.

3. Check that new (metal) gearboxes are greased and can move freely. Breaking them in is recommended.

4. Fit motors into new gearboxes.

5. Fix new gearboxes with motors into lower hull.

Hints: Use a screw driver with a magnetic head (or bluetack) to hold screw in place when fixing gearboxes to lower hull.
